Job Description:

Position Summary

The Human Resources Administrator develops, implements, and administers policies and programs concerning; employment, employee relations, benefits, employee development, compensation, payroll, workers’ compensation, safety, performance management, legal compliance, and EEO. Provides advice and counsel to managers and employees to enhance the effectiveness of the organizations’ human resources. Communicates broadly within the organizations to keep their supervisor and all staff apprised of changes or enhancements within the HR program area. In all activities and interactions, maintains a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that gets along with members, clients, coworkers, and supervisors.

Position Responsibilities 

  • Administers all aspects of Food Export’s benefits programs. Reviews and approves all invoices from providers and ensures compliance with all government laws.
  • Administers the payroll process in conjunction with outside payroll service to ensure accurate and timely bi-monthly payrolls, including base pay and bonuses.
  • Ensures legal compliance with all local, federal, and state regulations applicable to the human resources area such as: Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of existing human resource programs to ensure they continue to meet their designed purposes. Makes recommendations to company management regarding changes in policies and procedures.
  • Maintains all Human Resources related records, including separate file systems for personnel records, benefits records, employment selection process records, I-9 forms (IRCA), payroll records, affirmative action/equal employment related records, workers’ compensation related records, records related to complaint investigations and employee performance issues.
  • Coordinates recruitment and employment process for jobs within Food Export and assists management with their recruitment and employment process.
  • Assists management with salary administration, job description, and performance management processes. Coordinates completion of job descriptions and the determination of FLSA exemption status.
  • Assists in coordinating employee recognition programs. Identify, prepare, and distribute acknowledgements for key milestones such as professional anniversaries. Coordinates annual celebrations to recognize completion of large projects as well as annual holidays.
  • Assists management and staff with training and development by providing access to training information, classes, and programs. Periodically forwards information that could meet training needs.
  • Coordinates the processing of expense reports (review, coding, and approval) for staff traveling to conferences and events utilizing non program funds.
  • Coordinates staff trainings such as sexual harassment prevention, unconscious bias, DEI, etc. Additionally, coordinates all staff trainings required by the federal government on an annual basis.
  • Works with the Deputy Directors and Program Managers to organize, track, and disseminate staff travel approvals on an annual basis.

Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree in business, human resources, or related field is preferred. At least 5-7 years of experience working in a Senior Human Resources role.

Technical Experience

  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce, ADP Payroll, Employee Navigator, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience utilizing Customer Relationship management software, preferably MS Dynamics.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of human resources systems, policies, and practices, including but not limited to; recruitment, selection, compensation, benefits, payroll, job description, non-discrimination, safety-security, promotion, discipline, performance management, and termination.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, insurance language and standards, or governmental regulations. Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
  • Requires math and statistical skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Requires ability to compute ratios and percentages and to develop graphs and charts.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • This position requires light duty physical work including carrying multiple files and printed materials; conducting general office duties; participation in trade shows; and market promotions.
