Special Edition: Food Export-Midwest Turns 50!

Food Export - Midwest is celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2019! Join in on the celebration by taking a walk down memory lane in this week's blog!

December 8, 2019 marks the 50th Anniversary of Food Export Association of the Midwest USA (Food Export-Midwest)!

Food Export-Midwest, originally known as the Mid-America International Agri-Trade Council (MIATCO), was founded on December 8, 1969.

Along with other notable events that took place in ‘69 like the Beatles last public performance, the Moon Landing, and Woodstock, we believe that the founding of Food Export-Midwest is an event to be remembered and celebrated!

Food Export-Midwest may look a bit different in 2019 than it did in 1969 with more staff and more state members than ever before. However, our mission has always stayed the same.  We work with our 13 Midwest member states to promote the export of food and agricultural products from the Midwestern region of the U.S. and provide a wide range of services to help facilitate trade between local food suppliers and importers around the world.

You can find out more about Food Export-Midwest and our mission on our About Us page.

To celebrate our anniversary, we thought we’d share some fun blasts from the past with you this week on the blog! So join us for a walk down memory lane with this video of photos from the past 50 years!

We have been celebrating all year on our website and social media channels sharing old videos, photos, and stories that we have collected from the past 50 years. You can see the full collection on our 50th Anniversary Page.

We can’t wait to see what the next 50 years have in store.
